The safe reset, step by step
- 1Switch the heater off at the controller.
- 2Isolate power at the unit's switch or breaker for 30 seconds, then restore it.
- 3Restart in heat mode and watch the first full ignition cycle.
- 4Note whether the fault returns immediately, after a few minutes, or only intermittently — that timing is the most useful thing you can tell a technician.
About Braemar fault codes
Fault numbering varies by Braemar model and controller version, so a generic code table can point you at the wrong part. Take a photo of the display or count the flashes on the status light, then call us with the model number off the unit's data plate. We'll match the code to your actual model before quoting anything.
Symptom by symptom
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fault repeats immediately after reset | Hard fault — sensor, igniter, gas valve or control board | Stop resetting. Repeated ignition attempts on a hard fault can make the damage worse. |
| Fault appears only on cold mornings | Marginal igniter, flame sensor or gas pressure | Usually a component on the way out. A service with gas pressure testing normally finds it. |
| Fault after 15+ minutes of running | Overheat protection from restricted airflow | Clean the return-air filter, check for closed vents, then have the ductwork inspected. |
| Controller blank or unresponsive | Power, wiring or controller failure | Check the breaker and isolation switch first — it's the cheapest possible cause. |
Anything involving gas, refrigerant or the inside of the unit is licensed work. If you smell gas, shut the gas off at the meter and call the gas emergency line first.
We service and repair Braemar ducted heating across the Bellarine and Geelong, including carbon monoxide testing and controller upgrades.
